FAQ (Frequently
Asked Questions)
Q:
How do I put up work on a Monday night?
A:
When you know which Monday night you would like to present your work, call
up the member in charge of scheduling scenes (currently Bobra Suiter) and
she will put you on the schedule.
Q:
I'm new to the group and I don't know many people here. How do I get involved?
A:
We're a very friendly group and it's unlikely that you'll be allowed to fade
into the woodwork. But the keyword around here is "self-motivation".
Get yourself onstage and let people see you. Do a monologue, or a song... announce
that you're interested in working on a specific scene and are looking for a
scene partner or director. If you are a playwright, observe the wealth of talent
in the room and cast your magnum opus. Everyone is approachable, and, if their
schedule allows, are eager to work. P.S. Many of us go out to our favorite watering
hole afterwards. Good place to talk.
Q:
I have a full length one-person show I want to work on. May I present that on
a Monday night?
A:
If a work exceeds twenty minutes, the members must request permission from the
board. Generally, it is desirable that work presented on Monday nights be of
relatively short duration, from two to twenty minutes. The reason for this is
so that a large variety of work may be presented, and that there is time for
a critique session afterwards.
Q:
But I'm a playwright, and I need to know if my entire play works. How can I
accomplish this?
A:
There are several ways to do this. You can workshop smaller sections of your
piece on Monday nights, preferably bringing them back several times. You then
have the other six nights of the week to present an alternate evening presentation
of the entire work before an invited audience of workshop members as well as
family and friends.
Q:
I have a friend who is very interested in seeing what goes on during Monday
night meetings. May I invite her?
A:
We have a new policy in place that allows an occasional guest to attend our
private member-only meetings. They must be a theatre professional and visiting
with an interest in possibly joining our group. Permission for guest attendance
must be obtained from the Board in advance. The guest is invited to audit the
meeting and may not actively participate in the meeting.
The
Board of Directors is comprised of eleven TAW members elected to three year
terms. They work hard to keep our organization together and moving forward.
