Throughout the year, we open our doors for a variety of events: play readings, staged performances of new works by our member playwrights, and on rare occasions, a special benefit event to help keep us going.

"Worthy Plays from Bygone Days"

A series of concert readings of neglected plays that TAW considers to be significant contributions to The Dramatic Canon, from Pinter to Moliere to Hellman.

We present these readings free of charge to the public on selected Friday evenings.

TAW Playwrights Festival
is often a first-time go before an audience of a playwright's new work. The Workshop is an incubator of fresh new work, and we've seen many projects that got their start here go on to become fully staged productions in the world, even as far as Broadway!
While the work that is presented on our Monday night meetings is our mainstay activity, we encourage our members to take advantage of alternate night presentation of self-generated projects of their own. The space may be used to present scenework, or a preliminary reading of a playwright's work-in-progress, and members may invite non-member guests to attend and view the work. It's one of the great strengths of this workshop that so much opportunity exists for every member to develop and nurture their own projects!

"Literature Comes To Life"brings short fiction by writers from Balzac to Beattie to the community, read by our diverse population of actors.
We have performed at the Lockwood Mathews Mansion, and are making ourselves a resource to schools, libraries and community groups.

Older plays, especially from the 30's and 40's, often have large casts that preclude them from being produced today.

As a result, it is rare to find a full professional production of a play by Odets or Giraudoux.

Our radio play format allows the plays to be experienced in a unique and engaging way that is enormously satisfying to actor and audience alike!
